Texas Pharmacy Association
Academy of Student Pharmacists
If
you are member of TT-ASP... you are a member of TPA-ASP!
The Texas Pharmacy Association is the only overarching pharmacy
association in the state. It includes academies for all aspects of
pharmacy, including students and pharmacy technicians.
The Academy of
Student Pharmacists (ASP) represents the students of all pharmacy schools
in Texas. When a student pays membership dues to TT-ASP, he or she is automatically
a member of TPA-ASP.
TPA-ASP serves as an arena for students to become
familiar with the Texas Pharmacy Association and provides educational
development programs to facilitate professional growth, networking and
mentorship.
What are the benefits?
TPA Student Speedletter: an E-publication written by students for
students, containing upcoming events for all chapters, legislative
updates, job postings, and industry news
Membership Transition: reduced dues for students making the transition
from student membership to Pharm.D. membership
TPA Annual Meeting: The only summer annual meeting (doesn’t conflict
with classes – a great first meeting to attend!)! The student sponsorship
committee is working hard to get all ASP members registration paid. Fun
things to do at annual meeting include: Patient counseling competition, expo, and
student seminar on financial planning for after you graduate.
TPA Foundation Scholarships: available to all TT-ASP members!
TPA Alliance Loans: $1000 available to students in their 3rd and 4th
years
Innovative Student Project Awards: Gives students the chance to develop
a patient centered project and present it at annual meeting. Cash prizes
to the top 3 projects.
TPA Legislative Conference: Lobby Day! Every two years, TPA-ASP members
go to Austin to lobby our representatives concerning pharmacy issues.
Law Symposium: TPA offers a comprehensive law review study course
to
help you prepare for the State Board exam. The Texas Guide to Pharmacy
and Drug Law, the book for the Law symposium, is also available for
purchase from TPA.
