The Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr. Pre-Med Society is an organization created at Texas Tech University in 1998 with the purpose of helping to make its members the most qualified, dedicated, and well-rounded applicants for professional health careers. The Dr. Bernard A. Harris Jr. Premedical Society also attempts to increase the cultural diversity of students focused towards these fields and especially strives to provide greater exposure to community service opportunities, including those in the areas of medicine. We are the home of the Family Medicine Mentoring Program (FMMP), and the Medical Student Mentoring Program (MSMP). We try very hard to provide mentors to the members of DHPS!

This premedical society works directly with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, Office of Admissions. The goal of this relationship is to provide a unique insight into the medical admissions process in Texas. Other medical schools are invited to speak at the request of the organization's members. The Office of Admissions also conducts formal mock interviews every year in the Spring. These interviews are conducted by faculty that actually do the interviews for admissions to medical school.

DHPS Juniors! If you are applying to medical school in the Spring of 2008, then the last meeting of the semester is for you! (11/29/07) We'll be going over the aspects of the Letters of Evaluation to medical school. All myths, rumors, and legends of these important documents will be exposed! Come on out to see what needs to be in these letters, when to submit them, and who to ask for them. Flush from your brain the phrase "Letters of Recommendation". In this business, they are always evaluation letters.
