The TTUHSC Student Endowed Scholarship Fund was begun in 1989 when the HSC Student Senate initiated an HSC Phonathon as a student project. During the Phonathon each year, students from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, and Biomedical Sciences call their respective alumni and ask them for donations to the scholarship endowment. Contributors may designate the school to which they would like their donations to be credited.

    Scholarships are awarded annually from the earnings of the endowment upon recommendation by the Senate Scholarship Committee and approval by the Dean of the awardee's school. One scholarship is reserved for awarding at the respective Dean's discretion.

Criteria

    The scholarships are awarded in recognition of community service, demonstrated leadership ability, and academic standing. Financial need will only be considered if other criteria are insufficient to determine a clear recipient. Any applicant receiving financial aid for the current semester will be considered in financial need.

All HSC students who have participated in the Phonathon are eligible for up to 33 available scholarships totaling $33,000. Other scholarships of $500 each are available to students who have not had the opportunity to participate. All applications will be considered, including those of previous recipients.

An applicant will be evaluated on the following criteria:

a) Participation in the phonathon.

b) Involvement during HSC tenure:

School activities (non-credit)

Community service (non-credit)

c) Other:

                Work experience

e) Scholastic excellence:

                GPA

f) Indication of financial need, if appropriate

THE COMPLETED APPLICATION MUST BE IN THE OFFICE OF HSC STUDENT SERVICES (3B310) NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. ON March 24, 2000. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Endowed Scholarship Application--Download this zip file and fill out the two pages using the FormFiler.  (Be sure to setup FormFiler as a "helper file" under the "Setup Type" installtion step).  Once installed you will then be able to open the unzipped application pages, fill them out on your computer, and print the application.  Print each page individually, you will not be able to save the completed form.
