Chapter Transition:
Congratulations to next year's officers Petra (President), Adham (VP), Chris, Shan and Bathany! The president and the vp have these goals in mind as they bring the organization to greater new heights:
- Move SNMA's annual health fair to the Fall and run a great PR campaign to get the word out
- Work with the Texas Tech undergrad students to form a new MAPS chapter (SNMA's counterpart for premeds)
- Start a speaker panel to bring med students to the undergrad campus to speak about medical school, applications, etc.
- Continue to bring SNMA to the community through YSEP, HPREP and special projects.
- Recruit a lot of MSI's and get them excited about SNMA!

Our mission is to encourage minorities to enter the health sciences fields and promote and improve the health of the underserved population. Our chapter has been dedicated to create opportunities for community service and engagement and help medical students understand the needs of the underserved communities in the Lubbock area.
SNMA offers many ways to get involved. Throughout the year we go out to the community centers and after-school programs to teach children about science and health. Every spring we organize a large health fair for the underserved population in Lubbock. This year we led a food drive in the health sciences center to collect goods for the South Plains Food Bank.
Our chapter is affiliated with the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine (TTUHSC SOM).
